◊◊ Corey’s
POV; 2AM ◊◊
I’m finally home. I don’t know whether to
be excited or relieved to finally be back at a place where I’m greatly appreciated. And also I can probably pass up a lot of
missing time, if you know what I mean. Before we had left Nashville, Joel
pulled me aside and actually talked to me about what will be happening when we
get back home to the United Center. I actually like the idea, so I had to
literally listen to him for once. I mean I always do, but you know how things
go. I guess. But anyway, before I could even enter into my house, I had to
disarm the alarm before I give my wife and daughter a heart attack.
Entering my house with a sigh of relief,
I placed my bags down next to the front door, closing the door quietly behind me
and silently made my way upstairs. I know that Bella, our yorkie puppy, was
upstairs sleeping in our bedroom because that’s apparently her sleeping area.
Whatever, but anyway, I was happy that she didn’t come running down the steps
when she heard the front door open, so that’s a sign that the bedroom door is closed.
Walking up the steps, I stopped in front of the door and took a deep breath. It
feels like I’ve been away for such a long time now, but it was a nervous
experience for some reason. Opening the bedroom door I walked in to see that
the television was currently on, Jamila leaning down on one side and Christina
sleeping on her lap. I couldn’t help but smile at the current display that is
right in front of me.
I saw that Bella was fast asleep on her
doggy bed, so that made me happy, no unnecessary barking to be taken place.
Quickly turning off the television, I stripped down into my boxers and slid
into the bed. Causing Jamila to stir a bit and open her eyes slowly. Looking at
me, Jamila couldn’t help but smile tiredly and reach over to give me a soft
kiss on my lips.
“I’ve missed you.” Jamila said, her
voice barley a whisper.
“I’ve missed you too. Now hush, before
Chrissy wakes up.” I told her with a smile.
“Too late,” Christina piped up when she
picked her head up with her huge smile, “Daddy you’re home!”
“Well it’s finally a family party.”
Jamila chuckled at Christina’s happiness and Bella barking.
I was really avoiding trying to wake up
the damn dog.

Taylor’s POV; in Montreal, QB, CA ◊◊
I sighed heavily at the fact that I’m
here in Montreal for tonight’s game. The last thing I ever wanted to do at this
moment was take a flight when my feet are basically watermelon sizes at this
very moment. Carey Price being my cousin-in-law and all, I am actually happy
that I was able to even come to Montreal, since Dustin had to go home for some
personal stuff, he told me to just go and enjoy myself at the game. Groaning
while I entered the practice building, I walked into the rink area and stood in
front of the glass. Waving my hand at everyone that skated by, that, randomly,
caught Price’s attention. Carey took his helmet off as he skated to the
benches, eyeing me like it’s been years since he last seen me or something.
“So you have a bun in the oven and
couldn’t even tell me about it?”
Are you offended?
“I texted you. It was on Twitter, you
follow me on twitter. Check that or your phone more.” I shrugged my shoulders
casually, looking at Carey with innocent eyes.
That caused him to roll his eyes and
sigh heavily at the fact that I’m not even giving him that loving cousin-in-law
love that apparently I should be giving him. Oh well, that’s not my problem.
While we continued to talk, my phone kept going off, rolling my eyes in the
process and due to the fact that it was Kevin. Honestly, what the hell do you
want man?
“Are you going to answer that?” Carey
asked when my phone began to ring once again.
“Uh no. I have no time to try and
sabotage my best friend’s marriage. So please, continue.” I said while putting
my phone on silent.
I swear, this dude will not give up.
Just fucking face it you idiot. Jamila is happy and Kevin trying to get in
between them, just isn’t working. Nor will it work. I don’t even understand
what he’s trying to accomplish here, but it’s funny if you ask me. I guess the
whole ‘being friends with your exes’ thing really doesn’t apply to Kevin at
all. I just want my cousin in law and the rest of the team to have a wonderful
game, and for little bean to not make me run to the bathroom ever 5 minutes.
◊◊ My POV
back in Chicago ◊◊
It’s almost 3 in the afternoon, everyone
was at the Crawford household just relaxing before the guys had to leave for
the arena in about an hour or so. Christina, being the little energetic child
she is, was telling the guys how, while at daycare today, she played the goalie
position while they played floor hockey at recess. It was a wonderful moment
hearing about your own daughter talking about playing the position her own dad
plays; you can practically see Corey’s face light up in the process.
“It was crazy daddy!” Christina said as
she got down in the butterfly position “I stopped the ball and it hit me in the
knee but I caught it just in time! And when Uncle Scott taught me to use my
chest to block, it was great!”
“Uncle Scott?” I thought.
“You taught my daughter to use her
chest?” Corey spoke up when looking over at his backup goalie.
At this moment, Scott just shrugged his
shoulders causally while drinking some of his water. It was cute that my
daughter would rather play goalie than the other positions, even though she has
played them before when hanging out with the other team members’ kids, it was
just a mysterious to me this child is.
“Honey, go wash up, you have to get
ready for the game.” I told Christina, seeing her pout from the corner of my
own eye. “Christina Sarah Crawford, no pouting or you’ll go to bed instead.” I
warned her.
“Yes mommy.” She mumbled, waving at the
guys as she made her way upstairs to her bedroom.
Myself and the girls all got up to head
into the kitchen to have our ‘weekly gossip’ session because it seems like we
never have these anymore since Taylor officially moved to LA and got pregnant.
And it was usually her gossip we are usually looking forward to and that’s
practically why we started all of this.
“Okay so, since we aren’t going to the
game, for some unknown odd reason,” Kat said while grabbing a couple of wine
glasses from my cabinet and also a wine bottle in the process “We might as well
get this party started huh?”
How does she know where my stuff are
though?!
“Kat how do you know where my wine is?”
I asked curiously.
“I mean, it’s not like you don’t have a
damn label on your cabinet that says ‘WINE’ or anything.” Kat rolled her eyes,
causing all of the girls to look over at my obvious labeled wine section of my
kitchen.
“Congratulations, you played yourself.”
Said Ashley as she poured herself some wine, practically filling up her glass.
“Wow Ash, save some for the rest of the group?” Sarah rolled her eyes at Ashley while taking the wine bottle from her and pouring the rest of the girls’ glasses.
I, obviously nicely declining as I just
went to grab a cherry cola from the fridge instead, but pouring the soda into
the wine glass so I wouldn’t feel alone. Being sober is such a hassle, after
going to rehab for almost overdosing on pills then for excessive drinking, it
was an awful time for myself and my career at the time. Now that I’m a mother
and I stay at home almost all of the time, drinking seems to be the less of my
worries now.
I snapped out of my sudden daze when I heard
Ashley bring up something very interesting and I casually sipped my soda
extremely surprised.
“No way, you can’t be serious?!” Sarah
explained, having a feeling that Ashley is just causing the same typical drama
she did when it was basically myself, Corey and Kevin.
“No I’m serious, the signs are all
there!” Ashley said defensively.
“I mean, I have to agree with Ashley, he’s
been super flirty with you lately and it’s quite sad that he’s doing it in
front of Kris.” Kat piped in.
I guess it was my turn to say something,
but honestly when it comes to me, signs are something that I suck at. Hell, I gave
three guys mixed signals for goodness sake. “I uh, I’m married so don’t look at
me.” I muttered, drinking more of my soda so that I wouldn’t get into the
middle of all of this.
“Why do you think Darling likes me? Kris
and I have been together for a very long time now. I barley know him.” Sarah
rolled her eyes, causing all of the girls, even myself to gasp; more shocked
than ever.
“You like him!” I seethed quietly watching
as Christina came downstairs in her pajamas and her dad’s jersey.
“Daddy, I hope you guys have a nice
game!” Christina explained when the guys began to gather their belongings.
The guys walked over to us, giving their
respected ladies a kiss and then said their goodbyes. You can tell how meh
Darling got when Sarah and Kris began kissing each other. It was funny, but I
couldn’t laugh. But I mean I did anyway, lowkey though. Doing the typically “We
Are!” then “Blackhawks!” chant, Christina would do before they would head off
to the ice. What? I went to Penn State, it was practically a daily chant.
“Christina go ahead and watch television
for a while before the game starts okay?” Ashley asked kindly, getting a ‘Yes
Auntie Ashley’ respond in return, then turned all of our attention back at
hand.
At this moment, Sarah had taken her
phone out to show us the text messages her and Scott would send back and forth
for the last….3 months and a half!?!?
Oh yeah ‘I barley know him’ my ass.
Scott: I hope you liked the flowers I
sent you today.
Sarah: Wait that was you?? Kris was
extremely suspicious, you can’t do that…
Scott: Okay, but I really don’t care
about him at this moment. Did you like the flowers?
Sarah: I loved them, thank you. But
honestly Scott, we have to cool it a bit. The last thing I need is my friends
finding out. I don’t want to be the next ‘Jammy’ of the group-
“Whoa whoa!” I stopped Sarah midsentence
when I heard my name, “Y’all have a thing called ‘the next Jammy’?!” I looked
at my friends a bit confused but more offended than ever.
“Jams, I really don’t think we have to
explain that one to you.” Kat said in returned, causing me to throw a grape at
her.
“Y’all are frauds.” I muttered just as
Sarah locked her phone and put it away.
“Okay so what does that mean?” Ashley
questioned when Sarah stopped reading the messages.
“It means, we’ve been sort of… secretly
seeing each other a while now. But you know, it was bound to happen. Kris got
boring.” Sarah frowned deeply.
“Okay well, I’m not gonna judge, because
I practically slept with half of the damn team apparently, but Sarah you do
what you do. Just don’t call me when you get caught. Actually yes, please do
call me because I have to hear all of this out.” I grinned casually, getting up
from the stool in the kitchen and made my way to the living room.
Christina is at an age that she
sometimes knows why her dad isn’t playing and why he is. I honestly thought I
was gonna have to explain it today but I didn’t, thank goodness. I asked her
quietly if her dad had giving her medication before his departure from the game
and when she said yes, I smiled and gave my daughter a kiss on the forehead.
“Guys the game is about to start!” I
called out, stretching out a bit and getting comfortable on my couch.
“Come on Bella!” Christina screeched
excitedly while taking ahold of the small Yorkie and began bouncing in her
seat.
◊◊ Corey’s
POV; After the Game ◊◊
It was one of those games where I was
very happy that I didn’t play. Don’t get me wrong, Darling did extremely well
tonight, chances are, I’ll be hearing about this from Jamila later on, mostly
because when at home and we suffer tough losses, she awkwardly becomes a supportive
coach to me rather than a supportive wife. It’s funny yet awkward in all
difference ways. When the game was finally over, everyone was wrapping up the
last minute press and locker cleanup. I looked over at the last guys remaining;
Kane, Darling, Versteeg, Toews and Hossa. It was usually Hossa to be the last
one to leave, but Shaw had to be the first one to leave because he promised Amy
that he was going to pick her up after her last night class. As the rest of the
guys began to leave, I gathered up my materials until Scott stopped me before I
could walk out of the dressing room.
“Hey, can I ask you something?” Scott
asked when everyone has officially cleared out.
I hope this wasn’t his work as a goalie,
oh man would I become my wife for a second and roast him. “Yeah sure what’s up?”
Is what I ended up saying anyway.
“How close are Sarah and Jamila?” He
asked curiously, for some off reason, looking more nervous than anything else.
◊◊ My POV ◊◊
I hated the fact that when Corey would come
home, he would always disrupt Chrissy in her sleep. Half of the time, I don’t
even think she’s even asleep; waiting up to see her dad is something she’s been
doing ever since she turned one years old. It seems as if she had finally
fallen asleep because when he walked into the room, he took a long and deep
breath before looking over at me. I, myself, giving him a casual wave in the
process.
“Why does she have so much energy at her
age?” Corey groaned as he face planted the bed, but mostly onto my lap.
“That’s your child too. She didn’t get
that hyper-ness from me, that’s all I know.” I said in return as I began to run
my fingers through my husband’s outrageous hair.
“Hey babe?”
“Hmm?”
“Did you know that Sarah and Scott are
dating?” Corey asked curiously; which caused me to stop running my fingers in
Corey’s hair. I felt his head move a bit, but my eyes were just dead straight
set on the wall because I don’t know if I heard that correctly.
“D-Dating?” I blinked a couple of times.
What the hell has my own best friend
done this time…?
To Be Continued….
